The Philosophy... The Carolina Wake Series was founded on the idea of "by riders, for riders." Every decision we make is with the best intentions of making the riders as happy as we can. Bigger money, bigger prizes, bigger wakes. We believe that the Series is like a family, and we take care of everyone as such. There are kids at the events, and they need positive roll models. You won't see drunk people, or swearing from our staff. You will see our pros helping the beginners, and hanging out with them. We also prove a way to bring everyone together, like camping or an after party. There are so many riders from so many areas that we want to have a place to meet and get to know each other. You can see this attitude all the way from the spectator to the founders. CWS also believes each individual event is a local grassroots event. There will always be a local marina and board shop as the host. We make sure local riders are involved. All we do is bring our philosophy, man power, sponsors, loyal riders and reputation. You can choose to ride one event, or as many as you would like. We just love seeing new faces, and new riders. It truly is a great scene. The History...

The adventure began in 2003 when Ryan Atkinson and Rob Mendieta formed the UNCW Wakeboard Club. The club needed a fundraiser and hosting a contest was just the thing. The Cape Fear Classic was created. Thanks to Aussie Island Board Shop and some help from outside shops the event went off without a hitch. During the event a board member from Riverfest stopped in, liked what she saw, and invited us to host the same event there. This became the second event we hosted. With 70 riders Riverfest became a quick hit.

2004 hosted the same 2 events, with the same results; great riders, great spectators. We picked up new support from Red Bull, and other sponsors.

2005 Brad Holland came on board and really wanted to push the events bigger and better. So we expanded to Myrtle Beach with the Kerry Moore Invitational. It was small but went well. It was great to add a new state with new riders. This was also the first year we became a series and gave it the name Carolina Wake Series. A point system was added in but never took on. Even with 40 plus riders per event, we couldn't get enough riders to ride all 3 events. 2006 the series exploded. We added Raleigh and Burlington (switch stance/ pro marine) to make it a 5 tour series. The riders committed and we had our first winners. Looks like the CWS was here to stay. 2007. Now eight events, the series added slider slam...Added Charlotte (Wake the Lake) ...Also added Knoxville TN, The Mission Showcase
